Test testimonial

I loved GOLD so much that you’d be happy to scream it from a mountaintop! I had a lot of scheduling and time restraints so I am so thankful for this virtual option. The vast array of speakers, the convenience of watching at my leisure and ability to earn CERPs was a great benefit. I have been able to immediately apply a lot of it in my role of public health lactation support.”

IBCLC Recertification CERPs Requirements

How can GOLD Lactation help with your IBCLC Recertification?

At the end of your conference participation, simply download/print your GOLD Lactation CERPs Certificate which will show all the presentations you have viewed & the total number of IBCLC CERPs attained. These presentations have been approved by The International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) and used towards your IBCLC Recertification CERPs requirements.

About IBCLC Recertification:

Every five (5) years, the International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs) must recertify. To do this, IBCLCs can either pass the examination again or accumulate Continuing Education Recognition Points (CERPs). Every ten (10) years, re-examination is mandatory for recertification.

Recertification is required of all IBCLCs to promote continuing learning, stay up-to-date with current research and promote the exchange of knowledge. Given the rate of change in the field of lactation, the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) judges a five (5) year recertification period to be adequate.

Recertification by CERPs:

To recertify by CERPs (at the five (5) year mark), IBCLCs are required to earn seventy-five (75) CERPs. Of those seventy-five (75) CERPs, fifty (50) must be lactation specific and five (5) must be professional ethics specific. The remaining twenty (20) CERPs can be related to any topic relevant to lactation.

Generally, 60 minutes of education is equal to one (1) CERP. Please note that IBLCE determines if the education meets the learning needs and standards of practicing IBCLCs.

Re-Examination:
Every ten (10) years, IBCLCs must recertify by re-examination. This re-examination policy is intended to periodically assess knowledge and cognitive skills related to lactation consulting. Adherence to the IBLCE Code of Professional Conduct (link to: http://iblce.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/code-of-professional-conduct.pdf) as well as any professional licensing actions and/or professional disciplinary actions must be shown at this stage. IBLCE sees this as an important reminder to all IBCLCs of their ethical obligations.

The GOLD Lactation Conference is an affordable & convenient resource that you can depend on every year to offer high quality evidence based breastfeeding & lactation continuing education! Mark your calendars and join us at our upcoming online conference.

Continuing Education Recognition Points (CERPs) are available to lactation consultants through workshops, seminars and online education. The GOLD Lactation Conference provides Online CERPs for IBCLC Lactation Consultants that require CERPs for IBCLC Recertification or eligibility for writing the IBCLE Certification Exam.

The presentations at GOLD Lactation are reviewed and certified by the IBCLE and each presentation is award a specific category of CERP. Click here to see the Continuing Education CERPs awarded at this year's conference.
