Abstract:

Tongue tied infants may have difficulties with breastfeeding that impact maternal comfort and milk transfer. This presentation focuses on strategies to support breastfeeding whether or not frenotomy is elected or available.

Learning Objectives:

Objective 1: List two potential effects of tongue-tie on the mother and infant during breastfeeding;

Objective 2: Detail three strategies to help tongue-tied infants to breastfeed more effectively;

Objective 3: Design a simple sucking exercise to reduce tongue retraction.
