Book and/or online learning is an important part of the education of an IBCLC, but it won’t teach you everything you need to know. Some things can only be learned through experience and sometimes parents and babies are our best teachers. In celebration of IBCLC Day 2021, this presentation will share tips and tricks for the lactation professional that are based in evidence but learned through many years of experience caring for families. Learn more about descriptive language that resonates with parents and helps them feel understood, new ideas about using lactation related equipment such as pumps and supplementers, teaching strategies and much more.
Learning Objectives:
Objective 1: Discuss types of descriptive words that might be helpful to our clients
Objective 2: List 3 new ideas about using lactation related equipment
Objective 3: Explain teaching strategies that are applicable to their work setting
Objective 4: Describe examples of strategies that have been learned through experience
