Come celebrate IBCLC Day with us live on March 1, 2023!

IBCLC Day is an annual event recognizing the work and dedication of IBCLCs around the world. Each and every day, IBCLCs provide expert care to families, from home visits to bedside help in hospital and beyond. IBCLCs are uniquely situated to educate and support families at every stage of their infant feeding experience.

We’re thrilled to have Janiya Mitnaul Williams, MA, IBCLC, CLC sharing her insightful presentation “Breaking the Silos: Understanding the Connections Between Labor Interventions and Lactation” to celebrate IBCLC Day. We’ll be coming together to recognize the importance of IBCLCs and to advance the field of lactation with this practice-changing education.

Speaker Janiya Mitnaul Williams

This presentation sheds important light on how early lactation is directly impacted by maternity care practices and what we can do to protect and support breastfeeding/chestfeeding. Janiya will cover the ways we can include families in every aspect of perinatal and postpartum care as a means of increasing self-efficacy and confidence.  We’ll also learn what additional supports parents need when their lactation journeys have been interrupted and how we can help set the foundation for increased initiation and duration of human milk feeding.

This event is FREE with 1 L-CERP available upon completion. In addition to the live presentation, recorded access is included with registration.

Diversity & Health Equity Series

At GOLD Learning, we are deeply committed to fostering a culture of diversity and health equity. We understand that diversity, which encompasses the rich tapestry of human differences, is vital to creating inclusive and equitable organizations. By embracing diversity, we can ensure that all individuals are fully included and engaged in the structures and processes that shape our industry.

Health equity, the fair and just distribution of health opportunities, is essential for building a strong and thriving society. However, not everyone has equal opportunities to reach their full health potential, and it is imperative that we take action to address this disparity. We strive to empower individuals and communities through our programs and events, to achieve health equity for all.

To this end, we at GOLD Learning have intentionally planned our educational events to include a diversity of speakers and topics, representing a wide range of global perspectives and experiences. Over the years we've identified valuable information that may have not fit into our traditional education models, or might not have been as accessible to all due to economical constraints. This is why we're excited to launch a series of presentations with a specific focus on highlighting the experiences of marginalized and vulnerable populations, to ensure that their voices are heard and their perspectives are understood. This content will initially be made available at no cost, and any revenues generated in the future will be used to further this series or support related organizations.

Our objective in developing our Diversity and Health Equity Series is nothing short of ambitious: to serve as a catalyst for transformative change. We aim to feature topics, ideas, and initiatives that will inspire, inform and mobilize individuals and organizations to take action towards creating a more equitable and inclusive industry.

We believe that every idea and every voice has the potential to make a difference. That's why we urge you to join us in our mission, and reach out to us with your ideas and thoughts for expanding the diversity of our educational offerings, towards the aim of health equity. Please reach out to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Milky Rivers is a non-governmental organization (NGO) in Ukraine that has promoted breastfeeding for about 20 years. It has succeeded in creating a community of like-minded lactation professionals with the shared goal of increasing breastfeeding rates in the country. It has organized educational events and resources for colleagues and clients across Ukraine.

War in Ukraine has changed the context in which Ukrainian lactation care providers operate. The type of support that can be offered and received is different – online consultations are often a lifeline, and brevity and practicality is of utmost importance. Sometimes a mother will only have one consultation with a breastfeeding expert, so every moment and word can make a difference.

This ‘poster presentation’ is a case study of how a breastfeeding support group has continued to offer support in a conflict situation. It describes the current context, and offers resources for healthcare workers both in Ukraine and worldwide, to enable them to support breastfeeding dyads affected by this war.

Help GOLD Learning Support Milky Rivers:

  • Despite these difficult times, Milky Rivers consultants continue to offer their services. Much of their work is now done for free or by donation.

In recognition of this, GOLD Learning is donating USD 750 towards their services to support mothers who cannot afford it.

If you’d like to support them as well, you can do so via

All funds will go directly to the Milky Rivers non-governmental organization based in Ukraine. They will use it to supplement the cost of breastfeeding support services that are currently being offered to Ukrainians for free or by donation.

  • For more information on Milky Rivers, you can visit: https://breastfeeding.org.ua/

Resources for Supporting those in Conflict Situations:

  • If you are helping a breastfeeding dyad who feels at home with the Ukrainian language, you can share these 10 videos that were made in partnership with UNICEF and Milky Rivers in 2022. They include questions often asked in both war and peacetime. This resource is in Ukrainian.

  • In 2021, the Infant Feeding in Emergencies (IFE) Core Group published the Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies (IYCF-E) infographic series in various languages.

The infographic for Early Initiation of breastfeeding during emergencies could be helpful. Here is the English version.

This infographic is also available in: French, Ukrainian, Russian, Italian, Japanese and Arabic.

IBLCE has extended the deadline to recertify by CERPs to October 31 and it’s easier than ever to find the education you need with our brand new search tool!

Click through to search for presentations by IBCLC Detailed Outline categories: https://www.goldlearning.com/ce-library/ibclc-outline

As part of the recertification process, IBCLCs can choose to complete 75 Continuing Education Recognition Points (CERPs) at each 5 year mark. IBLCE’s new Continuing Education Self-Assessment tool helps to identify competencies and guides which areas need to be included in an individual’s continuing education hours.

The CE Self-Assessment is a computer-based tool which includes approximately 70 multiple choice questions. It may be completed once every 5-year recertification cycle and generates a Personalised Professional Development Plan.

IBCLCs recertifying in 2022 will need up to 7 of their 75 CERPs to be based on the outcome of their CE Self-Assessment. In 2023 the portion of CERPs increases to 20 out of the 75 CERPs, and in 2024 it will increase again to 34 of the 75 CERPs.

For further information on this process, please visit IBLCE’s website: https://iblce.org/step-1-prepare-for-ibclc-recertification/

You’ll find over 400 presentations in our GOLD Learning LIbrary covering all areas of the IBCLC Detailed Content Outline. A variety of bundle sizes are available, including individual webinars, small lecture packs, and full conferences.

Our new search tool allows you to quickly and clearly identify the education you need so you can easily complete your recertification. Instantly access recordings to watch at your own pace, and enjoy a viewing period that allows you to watch and re-watch recordings. Download speaker handouts to cement your learning, take notes, and more.

We’re glad to be part of your ongoing IBCLC journey!
