Biography:

Dr. Anjana Srinivasan is a family doctor and International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). She is the medical co-director of a hospital-based referral breastfeeding clinic since 2008. She is active in teaching and has developed courses in lactation for medical students, residents, practicing physicians and other health care professionals. She is a faculty lecturer in the Family Medicine department of McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. One of her areas of interest is tongue-ties and breastfeeding. She gives lectures on this topic and has conducted research projects at the breastfeeding clinic. Dr. Srinivasan also has a family practice which concentrates on maternal child health.

Tongue-ties Demystified
The approach to tongue-ties and upper labial ties in the breastfeeding mother-infant dyad remains controversial. The definition and assessment of tongue-ties and upper labial ties will be reviewed, as well as their presentation in the breastfeeding mother and infant. Diagnostic tools will be discussed, as well as indication for frenotomy. The research and evidence for treatment with frenotomy will be outlined. This presentation will include photos, videos, case studies, and studies conducted at the Herzl-Goldfarb Breastfeeding Clinic, a hospital-based referral center for complex breastfeeding issues.
