Evaluation of a neonate’s head, eyes, ears, nose, throat (HEENT) is essential for the provider to determine many potential issues such as birth trauma, poor fetal brain growth or development, as well as lend clues to possible airway anomalies or genetic syndromes. In this module we define frequently used HEENT terminology, explain HEENT anatomy and physiology, describe the process of a neonatal HEENT exam, and list common neonatal HEENT conditions.
