Abstract:

Menopause is a normal life event that occurs in twin as they age. Care includes promotion of health and wellness in this season and treatment of symptoms associated with decreased ovarian production of estrogen. In this presentation, recommended guidelines for overall health and wellness screening will be reviewed and best treatment options for people experiencing symptoms of menopause and pearls for practice will be shared.

Learning Objectives:

Objective 1: Attendees will be able to describe the physiological / hormonal changes that occur with reproductive aging.

Objective 2: Attendees will be able to employ the SWAN (Study of Women’s Health Across the Nation) study and the STRAW (Stages of Reproductive Aging Workshop) criteria to determine how mid-life experiences affect health and quality of life.

Objective 3: Attendees will be able to identify & interpret appropriate peri-menopausal screening and diagnostic testing to construct / modify plan of care.

Objective 4: Attendees will be able to utilize in clinical practice, life style & non-prescription remedies for management of peri-menopausal symptoms and identify appropriate candidates for use.

Objective 5: Attendees will be able to utilize in clinical practice, options for hormonal and non-hormonal pharmacotherapy for management of peri-menopausal symptoms and identify appropriate candidates for use.
