De Vereniging heeft tot doel Borstvoeding te promoten, te beschermen en te ondersteunen de lactatiekundigen in België te verenigen te streven naar de erkenning van het beroep lactatiekundige het aanbieden van een professioneel kader door onder andere vorming en promotie, bescherming en ondersteuning van het beroep lactatiekundige ontwikkelen en onderhouden van relaties met andere organisaties en instanties op nationaal en internationaal niveau. Unite lactation consultants in Belgium and strive for the recognition of the lactation consultant profession by offering a professional framework through, training and promotion, protection and support of the lactation consultant profession. Develop and maintain relationships with other organizations and agencies at national and international level.
Ontstaan De Belgische Vereniging van Lactatiekundigen vzw (BVL) is opgericht in 2006. Het initiatief is gegroeid vanuit een groep oud-studenten van het postgraduaat Lactatiekunde Hasselt	Originate De Belgische Vereniging van Lactatiekundigen vzw (BVL)) was founded in 2006. The initiative grew out of a group of former students of the postgraduate Lactation in Hasselt.
