Abstract:

Croatia, as an up and coming member of the European Union, is striving to meet modern standards, including implementation of the Baby-Friendly Initiative and International Code for the Marketing of Breast Milk Substitutes. Find out what the challenges were and how they were overcome. Learn a bit about Croatian culture, including old breastfeeding traditions and myths. Find out how Croatia stands in regard to breastfeeding statistics and forms of lactation support. Discover what we have in common with other countries and what makes us unique. Learn about the role of ILCA, IBLCE, ABM, RODA and other NGOs in Croatia and how they spearheaded breastfeeding promotion and education.
